Disinfect Your Phone? Here’s How to Not break it

With several things being in place for needing disinfecting while COVID rages, one thing that many be forgetting is their phone.

These darn kids, on their phones all the time!

Luckily, phones are much stronger nowadays and are much sturdier to clean. Apple has actually said that you can use Clorox or Lysol wipes to clean your screen. Samsung came out and recommended using an alcohol cleaning solution applied to a microfiber cloth.

All that being said, something to be aware of, some solutions can/will cause long term or short term damage to the screen. Some solutions can also damage the internals.

If you think that using Peroxide or strong cleaning alcohol is the quickest choice, stop. Alcohol solutions stronger than 70% will actually tear away at the film and oil blockage solution on your screen. It needs to be either at 70%, lower or mixed with some water.

Overall, your safest bet is with that alcohol solution, a Clorox wipe or a microfiber cloth. You shouldn’t be dumping this thing into water or just using warm water to clean it. You have to follow guidelines or you risk damaging this phone beyond repair and voiding the warranty.

You should also be cleaning your phone at least twice a day after consistent use. Since Coronavirus can live on surfaces for up to 9 days, you need to be aware of when and where you’re using it.

Take care of your phone people, for your sanity’s sake and your health concerns. Stay safe and stay home! Things are starting to trend down a little bit, we just gotta hang in there!
