Call of Duty: Black Ops 4: Cancelled Campaign Gameplay Allegedly Leaks

Gameplay footage of the reportedly cancelled campaign for Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 has seemed to surface online.

The video of the footage was posted on the Black Ops 4 subreddit by user /u/ForeverDexus this past Sunday. It features a possible mission where the player is given the task to “Find the Aquilius CEO”, fighting through a monastery and seafood restaurant. Many of the models are unfinished but the core structure is intact and appears to be modeled after the multiplayer map, Seaside.

A Kotaku report in 2018 claimed that the game had a single-player campaign at one point, but it was scrapped two years into the game’s development. The report claims that the campaign took many forms over the course of development. At one point, it was said to have featured an “ambitious two-versus-two multiplayer mechanic” before that was ditched, and then pivoted towards a more traditional campaign. But, of course, this was then scrapped in favor of the series’ first battle royale mode, Blackout.

The lack of a single player campaign didn’t seem to hurt the game too much, with it selling fairly well, though it was still less than previous entries in the series.
