The National Treasure series is looking to make a big comeback, with a third film in the series being produced and now, a television series in development for Disney+ streaming services.
The news came from a Collider interview with Jerry Bruckheimer, the producer to the franchise. He revealed the show would be with a different cast than the movies.
“We’re certainly working on one [National Treasure] for streaming and we’re working on one for the big screen,” he explained, “Hopefully, they’ll both come together and we’ll bring you another National Treasure, but they’re both very active… The one for Disney+ is a much younger cast. It’s the same concept but a young cast. The one for theatrical would be the same cast.”

The third film was announced to be in development in January, but we didn’t know if the original cast would be returning for it. It looks like we will once again have Nicolas Cage in the lead role, and he will have some familiar faces alongside him.
Bruckheimer also shared at which point both projects were in their development:
“The film version is being written right now. The television version is in process. We have a pilot script done and an outline of the future episodes.”
