Netflix News – Witcher Given Green Light to Proceed with Production

Toss a Coin to Your Witcher

After fans got the sour news that Netflix’s Witcher would be halting production, they’ve held their breath for an update. Finally, after weeks of silence on the matter, it seems that Netflix finally gave an update to the cast and crew.

Evidently all members of the production have either tested negative or met the professional requirements. This includes all of the crew luckily, so it seems that good news all around as far as the crew getting back to work.

If you’re wondering why the sudden change, it is mostly thanks to the UK supporting the reopening of different production studios. Which took place because crews self quarantined and waited for things to become safe again.

Recently, production for other projects finally started back up again. Things like Amazon’s The Boys and DC’s The Batman began booting up production again across the UK.

Sign of Improvement?

So, it seems like things are returning to relatively normal status. At least as far as physically filming the movies goes.

Witcher is also a series that a lot of people are excited to see come around for a second try. First season definitely had some upsides and downsides, but overall it got some good ratings for Netflix all around. Matter of fact, it’s one of Netflix’s highest watched shows of all time right now!

Henry Cavill’s portrayal of Geralt was another highlight of the show for a lot of people. His gruff mannerisms and vocal charisma carried the show in a lot of places.

Cinematography, editing and fight choreography are also big standouts in the show. Eclipsing similar shows like Game of Thrones and Outlander in their spectacle and one take shots. Doesn’t hurt that Cavill did all of his own stunts which helps to improve the choreography by a lot.

We were pretty big fans of Season 1. Admittedly, as stated above, it was not a perfect first outing for the show. There’s quite a few instances in the show that are just straight up boring and contrived. Supporting cast is anywhere between solid and just plain stupid.

Nonetheless, we’re excited to see where the crew and showrunners take the show.
