With the Snyder Cut finally announced for release, many fans are wondering what that meant for the movie. Would they need to re-film some scenes? How much did Snyder have before leaving production on the film? Well, it looks like he has enough as TheWrap‘s Umberto Gonzalez revealing that there will be no reshoots for the cut.
“There’s not going to be any reshoots of any kind with any actors. It’s just additional dialogue. Here’s something that hasn’t been reported yet: [Snyder] did want to shoot and he wanted to do additional photography, but HBO Max said, ‘No, that’s not happening. We’ll give you money for post-production, for special effects, for scoring, and even ADR but no reshoots of any kind on this movie.’”

While a bit of a letdown, it’s understandable why HBO isn’t allowing any reshoots. To get the cast back together and get everything worked out logistically, especially given the current tumultuous state of film productions, it would have been an expensive endeavor.
Furthermore, many fans have wondered if this release will lead to revival of Snyder’s planned films in the DCEU, but that doesn’t look likely either.
“This movie is basically one and done. This is to … close the loop, to finish the story. Maybe not the whole story, cause he did have like a three to five-picture plan. But this Snyder-verse, I’ll call it, will end with the Snyder Cut. Don’t expect any spinoffs for Batman or with Ben Affleck as Batman or any of that.”
We know that Snyder originally had a five-film arc planned, and many of us had hoped we would be able to see that one day, but it doesn’t look likely.
Regardless, the existence of the Snyder Cut and its release is huge news for fans, and something that we are all very excited about.
