Mark Hamill Says Good-Bye, Again, to Luke Skywalker

The end of the Skywalker saga was a big moment for us, the audience, but even bigger moment for many of the veteran actors who have been a part of the galaxy far, far away for decades. This includes Mark Hamill, who played the original trilogy’s hero, Luke Skywalker, and reprised the role for the sequel trilogy most recently.

After that trilogy ended this past December, Hamill made it clear this would be the last time we saw him as Luke Skywalker. To honor that fact, Hamill took to social media to express the bittersweet feeling of leaving the role behind.

Hamill has always enjoyed using social media to interact with his fans and also honor Star Wars whenever May the 4th comes around. But on the 9th, he took the time to get sentimental and we can understand why.

Hamill will always be known for his work as Luke, even though he has gone on to have an incredibly successful career, especially in voice acting where he became the legendary voice of The Joker in Batman: The Animated Series. While some actors would be frustrated with having one role tied to them their whole lives, Hamill seems to embrace that fact and cherish his time working on the films.

Luke Skywalker was the definition of a hero for a lot of growing up, and we are eternally grateful for Hamill’s portrayal and his never-ending enthusiasm (and jokes) about the series.

If you are wanting to look back on his time as the legendary Jedi Master, you can binge all the films on Disney+ right now.
